Let me tell you about this gem of a find in Zürich :: Wesley’s Kitchen.
Wesley’s Kitchen is Shanghai Street Food meets hole in the wall on Zürich’s well known Josefstrasse. You can take away or eat in. If you eat in make sure to book, the place only sits about 20 people, and every time I’ve been it’s very busy. You can reserve in 2 hour slots, from 6-8pm or 8-10pm.
I’ve never been a fan of Chinese food, but this is something else. We found Wesley’s Kitchen at the Zürich Street Food Festival last year, where they were serving their incredible Shanghai Bao (above). These are not the best thing on the menu, but the greatest street food. They are super crispy on the bottom with a buttery soft bun filled with a yummy meat mixture.
Once we discovered they have a little restaurant we had to try it out – we’ve been a few times, and it’s never disappointing. We usually order these 6 tapas on their menu and they are so yummy :: Taiwanese Style Chicken, Shanghai Bao, Crispy Beef, Champagne Ribs, 5 Spice Duck, & Soup Dumplings (below in that order). Crispy Beef is our favorite, so soft and flavoured that we cannot stop ordering it.
Overall Rating :: 5 star system: 5 stars – I want to eat here everyday, forever :: 1 star – I’m not returning, ever
Wesley’s Kitchen definitely deserves 5 stars. Those Shanghai Bao! That Crispy Beef! It will honestly speak for itself. I’d definitely recommend this place, and as you can see from below the food is always gone.
