Welcome back to my blog!
I love food, whether I’m the one cooking it or not. I love eating in restaurants, especially new restaurants, like Brisket. It’s like unwrapping a gift, you’re not sure what to expect, and when you find something you love… well it’s just like a good red velvet ice cream cake! Over the years I’ve eaten at some amazing places around the world. Because this little space of the internet is about food, I’ll be sharing recipes with you, and places I eat in.
If you are living in Zurich and love a good burger, chances are you will know about The Bite. Well, this great place now has a sister restaurant in the trendy Hardbrücke area of Zurich :: Brisket Southern BBQ & Bar.
No surprises by the name, this place has meat. Good Southern BBQ meat. My future mother-in-law is a Texan, so of course when she found this place, she told us we were going to try. So, a few days after it opened on May 7th, 2015, we set out to try this new food joint. Needless to say, I’ve been back a few times since and thought I’d share my experience with you.
Brisket has a really cool vibe as soon as you walk in. It’s located in Hardbrücke, which already boosted some of the trendiest places in Zürich. The inside of brisket is a mixture of old and new with a lot of wooden tones. I mean in how many other restaurants do you find a big wooden table and a disco ball?!
The restaurant is called BBQ & Bar, I’d say it’s definitely more of a place to have dinner then drinks, or better dinner with lots of drinks. And if you’re a gin lover like me, make sure to ask for the BULLDOG gin & tonic. Discovered this gin here and it’s so nice! (also note the ‘Get Naked’ sign on top of the bar)
All the food at Brisket is amazing. They have sharing platter if you’re indecisive. If you are in 4, I would definitely recommend you get the Grand Slam Platter, it’s 45 CHF per person, and comes with all of their meats and you can each pick 1 side.
I’ve never been a fan of Mac’n’Cheese, it was something my taste buds never enjoyed, it was always too cheesy or had too strong a mustard taste. But oh.my. I’ve been converted, the mac’n’cheese at Brisket is just amazing. Definitely recommend choosing it (although it is an extra 3 CHF, but totally worth it in my opinion). Plus all the sides come in these cute little containers like something out of an old fashioned diner in the US.
All the meats are beautifully cooked (they have a cool BBQ inside the restaurant near the bar, don’t miss seeing it), and super succulent. I would say the beef ribs and, of course, the brisket are my favorite. My boyfriend loved the pulled pork.
Nothing lasted on our plates, aside from the pickled strawberries. They were so pretty to look at, but not my thing.
Whenever I’m somewhere new I always want to try the dessert, also because let’s face it, I’ve a huge sweet tooth. I was recommended the red velvet ice cream cake, and it was delicious! I almost didn’t take a picture and just wanted to dive right in, I mean look how pretty it is!
Since I last went there, their menu changed slightly and I can see they added new meats to their menu, a good excuse to visit again!
